of all the cures this one has to be top of the list.:)
i used to be a heavy smoker but i used to mix it with tobacco. smoking and all forms i thought is a complete no no (hence i dont even go into rooms now where there is any kind of smoke), but if you smoke it pure and lets say just a drag or 2 maybe, who knows.
as lauri asked, could please state how much you smoke and what method you use to smoke it.

So are you only taking one puff a night, and it's holding off the vertigo attacks? How often were you having attacks?
I remember from High School that I never could stand the being stoned feeling or the smell...but if it works against Menieres, then I might re-consider it.
Desperate times...as they say.

I wish medical marijuana would work for me... but I have asthma and have never smoked anything in my life. Also, NJ isn't one of the enlightened states yet, as far as I know.

But to tell you the truth, I don't think I'd be very comfortable spending any amount of time stoned. I've always disliked the feeling that I wasn't in full control of myself. I was never really one for getting drunk, either, which is ironic, because Meniere's makes me feel like I'm drunk off my butt without any of the fun parts of drinking!

Of course, Meniere's Disease really destroys that sense of being in control, too, doesn't it? *sigh*

I have had Meniere's for three years now. Two years got I got my second attack, a friend who has medical marijuana for an unrelated condition gave me a joint to try for my nausea. It worked amazingly on the first puff, and within days of smoking just one hit a day I was back on my feet. Then fully functioning within two weeks. I now have my own prescription. I smoke every evening before bed and it keeps me going. I did stop smoking earlier this year because I felt completely fine. Then in about two weeks I was in full blown Meniere's again, it might be a coincidence but quitting that's not a thing I can try again anytime soon. (I'm hanging on to my job by a thread.) I also take Nexium for the excess stomach acid caused my the dizziness and Cocculus Indicus for the dizziness. I really feel I'm on to something with this combination of traditional medicine and homeopathic. I headed off an attack instead of lasting months it only lasted about two weeks. I take Ativan only when I'm really stressed, because I know stress will bring an attack and I do it more for prevention than anything.

Controversy aside, if medical marijuana helps your MD then it's a good thing. I'm more curious about the addiction to valium, simply because I have a low-dose perscription to be taken as-needed. I seem to need it a lot, although not every day. As a long-term solution, however, addiction worries me. I know the author of this site is also on low-dose valium. Do you worry about addiction?

I'm new to this site... I have had MD for a little over nine years....I had the endolymphatic sac shunt surgery in the beginning and it worked well for four years then one night at an Italian restaraunt... I went into the worst attack ever.. was taken to hospital after getting sick all over the place from everywhere.. it was awful. I found that valium relieved my symptoms a lot and then I got addicted to it and my doc weaned me off it. The only relief I get now is medical marijuana. I wanted to know does anyone else find relief from MD using marijuana. Luckily, I live in CA and easily obtained a medical marijuana card because I have MD. I have been able to get off ALL my meds, although I'm really bad about watching my sodium so I should get back on my diuretic... at least wondering. Anyway, I know it is sooo controversial so I wanted to start a little discussion and see if anyone else is getting this kind of relief.
